Killiehuntly farmhouse has stood watch over the sprawling Cairngorm mountains since 1850. A lot may have changed since then, but the slow and gentle rhythm of life at Killiehuntly certainly hasn’t. The Farmhouse is an easy-going home from home for up to eight people in 4 individual rooms. You can help yourself to a cold beer or a little negroni from our honesty bar whenever the fancy takes you, or sprawl on the sofa with a good book after a day exploring the hills. Seasonal supper and breakfast included in the room rates.

Killiehuntly Farmhouse

Hiding behind the cobbled farm courtyard at Killiehuntly inside the old converted mill, this cosy apartment makes for a lovers’ nest or a solo haven amongst the fields and forests. Finished with Scandinavian details, this is a wonderfully private design-led escape.

The Hayloft Room

Alder is the largest bedroom at Killiehuntly Farmhouse. Comfy seats and a large writing desk overlooking the Cairngorm mountains make for a cosy corner of the house to call your own. Alder also has an en suite shower room. Defined by a large four poster bed and framed by two achingly peaceful views of the surrounding estate, Alder is a place to close the door on the world outside and find calm.

The Birch room is a place for work and pleasure. In here you’ll find a long wooden table fashioned from one single slab. Hang your clothes on the specially made brass bars suspended from the ceiling and enjoy the tactility of items from Swedish Skulptuna. Birch is a double room with a comfy chair, two windows looking out over the Cairngorm mountains beyond, and a large writing desk. Guests have use of an en-suite shower room.

The Oak room features a hand-crafted bed, which can be offered as a double or a twin, which sits atop a hand woven carpet. A cosy chair and a simple desk complete this quiet retreat. Calm and peace are our watchwords here. Guests have use of a private bathroom.

Elm is a double room, with an adjoining private bathroom (including a separate shower). It features a large bed which has been crafted by local carpenters and topped with a handmade Swedish mattress. Other signature items are a pink Arne Jacobsen “7-series”-chair, brass Bestlite and Ruben Lamps. With views for miles around, the cosy bedroom is ensconced in nature - a retreat from the everyday and into the wild.

The Elm Room

Inspired by a deep sense of place, community and by the beauty of the landscape, Lundies is our little art hotel on the edge of Scotland’s north coast. Here, refined interiors and a profound sense of comfort come together to create a house of simple pleasures and genuine stillness - a perch from which to explore the nature around you.

With two views, one over the sea and the other towards the mountains, Shona is a large double room. The bedroom includes a custom writing desk and comfy seats for curling up. The large bathroom includes a free-standing tub with views over the Kyle of Tongue, as well as a separate shower.

A loft. A studio. A secret hideaway on the top floor of the old manse.This cosy double room has a bed built into a window bay, giving you the very best views as you sleep and wake. The bathroom is dominated by the bath-tub masterpiece from Drummonds by the window from which you have a clear view over the Kyle of Tongue and towards Castle Bharrich.

Flora

The first thing that meets the eye in this large room is the hand painted mural in the bathroom by Claire Basler, whose art is so precise that it almost gives you the feeling of being in a wonderful fairy tale.  Take a few steps down and you’ll be in the bathroom with walls covered in beautiful marble slabs that give a warm and elegant touch to the room. The large bed is dressed in natural linens and wools to keep you cosy while you rest. The 180cm bed can be made into a twin if you require - please feel free to let us know.

Isla

This large double room includes a bed-side bath tub with a wonderful view of the trees outside. Classically designed 20th Century furniture marries with natural linens and a marble-lined bathroom to create an oasis in the country.

Gwendolyn

These reductionist havens overlook a courtyard with a communal fire pit at its heart. These are highly informal spaces - a place for bikers or road trippers on the North Coast 500 to pull in for a night or two and take some time to really stop and appreciate this part of the world. Natural. Raw. Minimalistic in a 'hyggelig' way that comes from certain warm materials and a comforting simplicity.  Our courtyard also plays host to an outdoor communal dining space - a long, oak table light by the fire and candle light where long Summer evenings can play out. In the colder months, the fire ring is a comforting gathering place for a beer and a chat - another little nook where you might happen on a new friend as you travel. Each room includes a large double bed, a on suite shower room. These rooms are offered on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate. This room is accessible for those with limited mobility.
